Author Guidelines
Overview
The Sudan Journal of Health Sciences (SJHS) welcomes original articles, case reports, review articles, systematic reviews and meta-analyses across the medical and health disciplines, in English or Arabic. Authors are warmly invited to submit their manuscripts.
Aims and Scope
SJHS aims to support evidence-based practice and policy in Sudan and the wider region by publishing rigorous, ethically sound research. Topics include clinical medicine, public and community health, nursing, dentistry, laboratory and basic sciences, health professions education, and health systems and management.
Rules and Conditions for Publication
Each submission is first evaluated by an editor to confirm alignment with the journal’s aims and scope, with suitable manuscripts progressing to double-blind peer review.
Before submission, authors must obtain permission for any third-party materials (photographs, figures, datasets) and ensure all co-authors consent to inclusion. Research involving human or animal subjects must carry approval from the relevant ethics committee, in accordance with the Declaration of Helsinki and local legal requirements. A statement of informed consent is required where applicable. The approval reference number and date must be stated explicitly in the manuscript.
While editors provide constructive feedback, some submissions may not meet the journal’s standards; authors are encouraged to refine and resubmit. The study design and arguments should be clearly articulated, with a concise, informative title and a self-contained structured abstract.
Publication Steps
- Submission. Submit an electronic copy (Microsoft Word) via this website. Alternatively, send it to the academic secretary at sjhs@fajr.edu.sd.
- Initial Evaluation. The manuscript is screened and the author is informed of the outcome within one working week.
- Peer Review. If accepted initially, the manuscript is sent to the assigned reviewers for comments (typically two to four weeks).
- Revisions. Reviewers’ comments are forwarded to the author, who amends and resubmits the revised version with a point-by-point response.
- Final Approval. The revised version is reassessed. Once finally accepted, it is sent to the author for approval in an official, signed form.
- Publication. The author receives an electronic copy of the issue on publication. Printed copies may be requested through the academic secretary.
Publication Terms
The manuscript must not have been previously published, nor be under consideration elsewhere. Submission implies that all authors have approved the content and agree to the journal’s open-access licensing terms.
