Expenditure on Health Sector and its Effect on improving Health Indicators in Sudan. A study of Live Births and Neonatal Mortality Indicators, 2002 - 2020

Abstract

Background: The economic expenditure index is considered one of the most important economic tools that are applied in the health sector to provide the appropriate health sector requirements. The later is one of the most important tools that improve health sector performance. The study aimed to identify how much spending on the health sector correlates to Live births and neonatal mortality rates.

Methods: The researchers applied descriptive and analytical methods using time series data during the study period. The study relied on secondary data taken from the World Bank website. The analytical approach used E views.

 Results: The study found that there is a direct relationship between the amount of spending on the health sector and live birth rates, and there is also an inverse relationship between the amount of spending and neonatal mortality rates.

Conclusion: One of the most important recommendations of the study is to increase and diversify sources of funding for the health sector, in addition to increasing the percentage of government spending on the health sector.
